Once
known as the Hotel Naples, The
Augustus Bove House was one of
the first "summer hotels" of
the area. In the Horse and Buggy
days, this Hotel was a primary
stop on the routes through the
Sebago Lakes region wether they
were traveling to the Coast, (Portland,
Maine) or west to Mt. Washington
Valley and North Conway. Built
in 1850, the Naples Hotel was one
of three grand Hotels on the Lake.
In the 1920s, the inn was host
to a number of prominent guests,
including opera star Enrico Caruso,
Joseph P. Kennedy and Howard Hughes.
Today, The Augustus Bove House
offers 10 guest accommodations
with private baths. Rooms are decorated
in a Colonial style and modestly
furnished with antiques. Many rooms
provide a view of Long Lake.
Enjoy a full homemade breakfast,
which includes fresh fruit or fruit
compote, fresh muffins and breads,
cereal, juice, coffee and tea,
as well as a cooked main dish such
as french toast with ham, or pancakes
with sausage, served with homemade
blueberry or apple walnut syrup.
Breakfast is served between 7:30
a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
