consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce
energy usage, reduce air pollution (from
incineration), water pollution (from landfills),
and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

TIPS:
• The initial step for successfully
managing waste is not creating it in the
first place. Take steps to reduce the amount
of trash you need to discard.
• Purchase products that are less
toxic and contain less packaging especially
avoid #3 pvc plastic.
• Prefer reusable products, containers
and other refillable items.
• Maintain and repair old appliances.
• Participate in your communities
recycling programs.
• Prefer products made from recycled
or green materials.
• Distribute literature describing
the establishment’s recycling program
to both employees and customers.
• Start a compost bin for non protein
food waste, grass clipping, and other organic
products.
• Locate recycling bins in places
of easy access for employees and customers.
